Controversy Stirs As Sheikh Bello Yabo’s Fatwa Allows Hugging Women Upon Sight

Bello Yabo, a renowned teacher of Islam, has shared his thoughts on the role of Hisbah in enforcing moral conduct in society. He emphasized the importance of Hisbah’s actions and advised them to persist in their efforts, even in the face of criticism.

According to Bello Yabo, when Hisbah holds females or apprehends them, they should embrace them as a means of preventing more serious transgressions. His reasoning is that when individuals are engaged in both major and minor wrongdoings simultaneously, it is better to address the minor offenses to prevent the major ones.

Bello Yabo’s belief is that by detaining and guiding these individuals, they can be spared from engaging in immoral acts such as Zina (illicit sexual relations), which he deems harmful. He suggests that Hisbah should continue to apprehend these individuals and place them in vehicles to face the consequences of their actions, serving as a deterrent to others.

He firmly opposes the idea of allowing Muslim towns to descend into immorality, particularly Zina (illicit sexual relations). Bello Yabo recalls a story from the time of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) when a single instance of Zina brought divine wrath upon a community, resulting in the death of more than 40,000 individuals. He acknowledges that Allah’s mercy has spared them from similar plagues but expresses concern about the prevailing lack of responsibility and morality, especially among young females who should be in their homes but are instead found in hotels, engaging in illicit activities.

Bello Yabo also commends Aminu Daurawa, the Commander of Hisbah in Kano State, for his dedication to his duties. He encourages the Hisbah members to remain steadfast in their mission despite the criticism they may face.
