FG’s Strong Message: NLC and TUC Receive Warning

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has accused the opposition Labor Party of orchestrating disruptions to the nation’s economic activities through the Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC). Keyamo’s remarks came in response to the NLC and Trade Union Congress (NLC) closing the entry and exit gates of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Thursday.

Keyamo appealed to labor leaders to halt their actions that disrupt aviation activities nationwide. While condemning the reported mistreatment of NLC Chairman Joe Ajaero, he advised people to avoid situations that might lead to such incidents.

He emphasized that the aviation sector was not involved in the alleged mistreatment of the labor leader and requested that aviation be left out of these issues, as they affect both domestic and foreign travelers, thereby causing disruptions throughout the entire country.

Keyamo stated, “They are my friends; I have been part of them.” He urged labor leaders not to let the Labor Party destroy the labor movement, emphasizing that in some places, labor movements own the political party, but that’s not the case in Nigeria.

He concluded by saying, “This is my appeal to them: do not destroy yourselves on the platform of politics. They should not target aviation, and please do not bring politics into aviation. What they are doing is politics, not the labor movement. It’s not a fight for the workers.”

Keyamo expressed his condemnation of the mistreatment of his friend Joe Ajaero and simultaneously advised individuals to avoid situations that might lead to such incidents.
