Only 20 Directors Pass Exam, 61 Miss Out On Perm Sec Position

61 out of the 85 directors who took the written examination for the appointment of new permanent secretaries in the federal civil service on November 6, 2023, did not meet the required standard, scoring below 50 percent.

Out of the initially shortlisted 85 directors for the examination, four were absent.

Only 20 directors passed and moved on to the next stage, focusing on ICT proficiency, as outlined in a memo from the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation dated November 7, 2023.

The recruitment process for new permanent secretaries, initiated by the Federal Government in response to a circular released on September 25, 2023, is expected to conclude by the end of November.

The selection process involves three stages: a written examination on public service and policy issues, an ICT proficiency test, and an oral interview.

The call for applications from Grade Level 17 directors was made in August, as per a memo dated August 21, 2023, signed by the Head of Service, Folashade Yemi-Esan, and addressed to various government officials.
