BREAKING: Industrial Court Restrains NLC, TUC From Strike

The National Industrial Court has issued a restraining order against the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and their affiliates, preventing them from initiating any strike or industrial action.

After an extraordinary National Executive Council meeting on Tuesday in Abuja, the unions had announced a nationwide strike scheduled for November 14, 2023, in response to the alleged assault on NLC National President, Joe Ajaero, in Imo state the previous week.

In response, the Federal Government and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice filed an ex-parte application, urging the court to halt the planned strike.

President of the Court, Justice Benedict Kanyip, issued the order on Friday, directing the unions to suspend their intended nationwide strike.
