Vice Chancellor Urges Tinubu To Release Withheld Salaries Of Varsity Lecturers

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to release the remaining four months’ withheld salaries of university lecturers. Expressing gratitude for the release of four months’ salary, Ndaeyo emphasized that releasing the full amount would significantly enhance staff morale.

During the University of Uyo’s combined convocation ceremony, the VC also called on the president to increase annual budgetary allocations to the education sector, especially for universities. Despite acknowledging the federal government’s efforts in addressing funding issues, Ndaeyo highlighted the inadequacy, attributing it to the growing student population.

The Chancellor of the University, Alh. Abubakar Adamu Maje, urged graduands to embrace innovation and resourcefulness in the face of limited job opportunities. As the Emir of Hadejia and Chairman of the Jigawa State Council of Chiefs, he called on Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s administration in its transformative efforts.

A total of 14,866 graduates received degrees for the combined sessions of 2017/2018, 2018/2019, and 2019/2020 at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Additionally, three prominent Nigerians, including Mr. Udom Inoyo, Senator Daisy Danjuma, and Vincent Enyeama, were honored with doctoral degrees for their noteworthy contributions to humanity.
