Nationwide Strike: Noting Partial Compliance In Zamfara

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and its Trade Union counterpart in Zamfara State have joined the nationwide indefinite strike in accordance with the directive from the national leadership.

The leaders of the two labor unions announced their decision to participate in the strike during a press conference in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, as a means to emphasize their demands.

The NLC and its affiliates stated that the strike was initiated due to the challenges resulting from the removal of fuel subsidies and the recent assault on NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero in Imo State, Southeast Nigeria.

Despite a relatively low level of compliance in Zamfara, where members were instructed to withdraw their services on Tuesday, November 14, observations at the Yahaya Gusau Federal Secretariat revealed a small number of staff coming in and out of the facility.

Following their address to journalists, the state’s NLC and TUC Chairmen, Comrades Sani Halilu and Saidu Mudi, proceeded to the Jibrin Bala Yakubu Secretariat and other establishments to ensure adherence to the directive for workers to down tools.
