The leadership of organized labor and pensioners’ union has praised Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State for authorizing the release of N3.1 billion. This allocation is dedicated to settling retirees’ gratuities and providing death benefits to the families of deceased beneficiaries within the Defined Benefit Scheme and the Contributory Pension Schemes.
Expressing their gratitude in separate letters, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) commended the governor and the Kaduna State government for releasing the funds, acknowledging the significance of this action amidst current economic challenges.
In a letter signed by its state chairman, Comrade Ayuba Suleiman, the NLC stated, “We appreciate Your Excellency for the approval and release of N3.1 billion for the payment of retirees’ gratuity and death benefits. This gesture will provide immediate relief for retirees and the families of our fallen heroes who served our dear state diligently.”
The NUP and TUC also extended their praise to the governor for the release of pension funds. Additionally, while affirming their unwavering support for Governor Uba Sani’s administration, the groups called for the constitution of the Board of the Kaduna State Pension Bureau to ensure complete transparency.
The Kaduna State Pension Bureau has reported that the pension funds released will benefit over 1,000 retirees and families of deceased beneficiaries. The verification exercise for the payment of gratuity and death benefits has commenced across the three senatorial zones of Kaduna State.
