BREAKING: Federal Government Revokes 1,633 Mining Licences

The Ministry of Solid Minerals Development has taken action to revoke 1,633 mineral titles previously granted to non-compliant mining companies, as announced by Minister Dele Alake during a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to Alake, the revocation stems from the failure of these title holders to fulfill the mandatory annual service fees of N1,500 per cadastral unit.

The breakdown of revoked titles includes 536 Exploration Licences, 279 Quarry Licences, 787 Small Scale Mining Licences, and 31 Mining Leases.

In exercising the authority vested in him by the NMMA 2007, Section 5 (a), Minister Alake stated, “I have approved the revocation of the 1,633 titles.”
