FRSC Reports Reduction In Road Crashes, Deaths In Zamfara

The Federal Road Safety Corps has reported a significant decrease in road crashes and fatalities in Zamfara for 2023 compared to the previous year. The Zamfara Sector Commander, Mr. Iro Danladi, revealed these findings during a news briefing in Gusau on Thursday.

Danladi stated that there were 69 recorded road crashes in 2023, down from 95 in 2022. The number of fatalities also saw a notable decline, with 58 deaths in 2023 compared to 126 in 2022.

In 2023, 248 individuals were injured in the 69 road crashes, a decrease from the 535 injuries recorded in 2022. These statistics indicate a 27.4% reduction in road crashes and a 54% decrease in fatalities.

Highlighting the importance of responsible driving, Danladi shared the FRSC’s 2023 annual end-of-year campaign theme: “Speed thrills, but kills: Drive responsibly and avoid overloading.” He emphasized that safe driving leads to safe arrival, urging activities such as sensitization, enforcement, monitoring, and enhanced collaboration with security agencies and stakeholders.
