Community Mourns: Three Monarchs Killed in Tragic Accident

The hearts of Oyo State weigh heavy in sorrow as news emerges of the untimely demise of three esteemed traditional rulers from Oriire Local Government Area. This tragic loss unfolded in a fatal road accident that plunged the state into mourning. The revered monarchs, identified as the OLODOGBO of Odogbo, the Onibowula of Bowula, and the Alayetoro of Ayetoro, met their fate while en route to a social engagement in a neighboring community. Their vehicle tragically collided head-on with a commercial Scania Truck along the Ogbomoso-Oyo Expressway, marking a poignant and devastating moment for the region.

As revealed by Joshua Adekanye, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Oyo State, the harrowing accident transpired at Aje Iye within the confines of Oriire Local Government Area. The collision involved a Benz E230 bearing the registration number OLODOGBO and a commercial Scania Truck registered as 301 XF. The impact claimed the lives of two monarchs instantly, while the third succumbed to injuries hours later at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH), where he was undergoing medical care. Additionally, six other passengers were involved in the tragic incident, with three currently receiving treatment at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital.

FRSC Sector Commander Adekanye confirmed the collision as a head-on crash between a private and commercial vehicle along the Ogbomoso-Oyo expressway. The solemn aftermath sees the remains of the departed monarchs resting at the morgue of LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, marking a profound loss for the community and the state at large.
