Zamfara Govt’s Pension Liabilities Stand At ₦13.6bn Since 2015, Says Gov Lawal

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has revealed that the state is burdened with liabilities totaling over ₦13.6 billion in gratuities and pension allowances owed to retirees from 2015 until the present.

This disclosure took place at the Annual General Meeting of the Association of Retired Permanent Secretaries of Nigeria, Zamfara State Chapter, held in Gusau, the state capital.

Governor Lawal pledged to initiate the settlement of outstanding gratuities and pension allowances, aiming to enhance the well-being of retired civil servants in the state.

Upon assuming office, the governor outlined measures to reduce governance costs by streamlining ministries and commissioners to eighteen. Additionally, he formed a committee tasked with conducting a staff verification across all ministries to determine the accurate number, emphasizing improved welfare and heightened productivity.
