DSS Chief Unfazed by Corruption Claims, Focuses on Service, says Spokesman

The Department of State Services (DSS) stands resolute in affirming the unwavering dedication of its Director-General, Yusuf Bichi, towards ensuring staff welfare and the prudent utilization of resources. Dr. Peter Afunanya, Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications for the DSS, emphasized this commitment in response to recent false and malicious claims circulating on social media platforms, notably by Jackson Ude (@jacksonpnb) on Twitter.

Afunanya categorically refuted the baseless allegations, asserting that neither the Director-General nor anyone under his directive has engaged in the misappropriation of staff subsidy grants. He clarified that no such grants had been allocated to the Service, rendering the notion of their misappropriation entirely unfounded. Additionally, he debunked the fabricated notion of a “goodbye allowance” purportedly granted to the Director-General, labeling it as a figment of imagination.

Highlighting Director-General Bichi’s track record of accountability, transparency, and incorruptibility since assuming office in 2018, Afunanya reiterated the unwavering dedication of Bichi towards the efficient management of the DSS operations. He underscored the DSS’s awareness of malicious attempts to tarnish its reputation, particularly during sensitive political periods, emphasizing the steadfast commitment of the DSS under Bichi’s leadership to prioritize the nation’s internal security.

Afunanya urged the public to dismiss the false narrative perpetuated by Jackson Ude, citing Ude’s history of disseminating fake news and inciting division. He concluded by affirming the DSS’s intention to pursue appropriate legal measures to address these malicious falsehoods.
