NNPP, express profound concern regarding the escalating situation in Kano State, marked by unrest, protests, attacks on the judiciary, and disruptions. This unsettling sequence, comprising press interviews, incitements, and institutional disruptions, has grown to a critical level, with red-capped individuals wielding weapons, disturbing the peace.
Our thorough investigation revealed that the orchestrators behind these actions were Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and expelled NNPP members – Dipo Johnson, Kawu Alli, and Onu. These individuals, not representing our party, led and coordinated the protests.
After a comprehensive three-day retreat and submission of letters to pertinent security agencies and embassies, we affirm the following resolutions:
• Our party upholds Nigeria’s sanctity, ensuring the safety of lives and property as guaranteed by the Nigerian constitution.
• NNPP, founded by Boniface Anebolum, asserts that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is not its founder.
• We advocate legal redress options and reject the idea of self-help in addressing issues.
• Denouncing the deliberate mischief of expelled members presenting themselves as protest leaders, specifically Dipo Johnson, Kawu Ali, and Onu.
• Strong support for the rule of law and the judiciary, disapproving any attacks against the judicial system.
• Condemnation of threats forcing Election Tribunal judges to leave Kano.
• Misfortunes faced by NNPP attributed to Kwankwaso’s high-handedness, hindering party members from lawfully registering.
• NNPP disavows violence and killing, urging Kano residents to pursue peace.
We invite security agencies to investigate Dipo Johnson and his associates, clarifying their non-representation of NNPP. NNPP disassociates from inciting the masses and attacks on the judiciary, demanding a thorough investigation.
In conclusion, we attribute our party’s misfortunes to Kwankwaso’s non-compliance with our constitution and electoral laws, leading to our withdrawal from the MOU and subsequent legal action.
