JUST IN: Shocking Death of Local Government Chairman in Northern Nigeria

The demise of Aliyu Usman Haruna, also known as Ali Ashaka, the caretaker chairman of Gombe Local Government Council, has left a profound void in the hearts of the community. At 58, he passed away on Tuesday in Egypt while undergoing medical treatment.

Ashaka, renowned for his service and leadership, notably chaired the Association of Local Government Areas of Nigeria (ALGON) and was initially elected as Gombe LGA Chairman in December 2020. His term continued until 2022, after which he was appointed among 11 caretaker chairmen tasked with guiding their respective local councils.

Expressing deep sorrow, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya hailed Ashaka’s character, emphasizing his unwavering honesty and loyalty. In a statement conveyed by his spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli, the governor praised Ashaka’s legacy as a politician and leader dedicated to the service of the state, citing his profound influence on countless lives.

“Late Aliyu Haruna will be remembered as a humble, humane, and exceptional figure whose commitment to serving the state in multifaceted roles has left an enduring impact,” the statement concluded, encapsulating the collective sentiment mourning the loss of a revered leader.
