Kano State Govt in Crisis: Bank Accounts Locked by Court Order!

A significant ruling by the Federal High Court in Abuja has resulted in a garnishee order Nisi against the accounts of the Kano State Government, affecting 20 commercial banks across Nigeria.

Justice I.E Ekwo made this consequential decision in response to a suit brought forth by the Incorporated Trustees of Masalachi Eid shop owners and Traders Association. This lawsuit was prompted by the demolition of their shops, an action deemed illegal and unjustly carried out by the state back in June 2023.

The plaintiffs, including Alhaji Awalu Sai’du, Ifeanyi Nwobodo, Alhaji Sani Uba, Alhaji Abdullahi A. Idris, and 25 others, collectively filed a legal case against the Kano State Government. Their claim amounts to a substantial N30 billion, holding the state accountable for their losses.
