APC Brushes Off Opposition’s Unity Move: ‘Won’t Lose Sleep,’ Says Party Spokesperson

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has outrightly rejected the emergence of a purported alliance formed by seven opposition parties. Addressing the reported coalition involving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Peoples Allied Movement (PAM), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Young Progressives Party (YPP), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), the APC asserted it remains unaffected by what it perceives as a collaborative effort against its interests.

Felix Morka, the APC national publicity secretary, expressed the party’s nonchalance, stating, “We are not concerned about that. Whatever they (opposition) do is on them. It is up to them to justify themselves before Nigerians.”

While acknowledging the APC’s own amalgamation from various parties in 2013, Morka emphasized the party’s determination not to be swayed by the recent maneuvers of the “opposition elements.”

This recent development echoes a prior proposal made by PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar in November, urging unity among opposition factions due to concerns about the country’s potential shift towards a one-party system. However, the APC remains steadfast in its stance, maintaining an unwavering focus on its objectives despite the opposition’s collective efforts.
