Fear in Abuja: Bandits Storm Community, Kidnap Residents

Tension has gripped the Kubwa Extension 2 Relocation Estate in Abuja after a disturbing incident involving the abduction of a woman and her three children, including an infant of just six months old. The Zone 5 section of the estate was stormed by heavily armed bandits on Sunday night, causing chaos and panic among residents. Gunshots rang out between 8 pm and 9 pm, prompting locals to flee for their safety.

Expressing deep concern, an anonymous resident remarked, ‘This recurring kidnapping in December is distressing. We witnessed a similar event reported by The Punch last December, and now, this situation is repeating, which is alarming.’

Another resident echoed this sentiment, attributing the repeated kidnappings to the lack of sufficient security measures in the area. ‘The absence of adequate security is the reason behind these abductions. Last night, an entire family – a mother and her three children, including a six-month-old baby – fell victim to abduction in Zone 5, Kubwa Extension 2 Relocation Estate,’ they highlighted.

The Federal Capital Territory Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, has acknowledged the incident and pledged to furnish more details soon.
