The Nigerian government has confirmed yet another collapse of the national electricity grid, plunging the entire country into darkness. The Transmission Company of Nigeria acknowledged this grid failure on Monday, leading to a nationwide power outage that affected consumers across Nigeria.
Ndidi Mbah, the TCN Public Relations Officer, confirmed the outage to Peoples Gazette, stating that efforts to restore the national power grid were already underway. She mentioned that power supply had been reinstated in Abuja and some other regions. Mbah stated, “Abuja has already been restored, and so have various other areas. Full restoration is ongoing.”
This recent grid collapse marks the second incident since mid-September, when distribution firms across the nation reported a lack of bulk electricity from federal infrastructure. President Bola Tinubu has pledged to enhance the power supply in Nigeria, emphasizing his commitment to addressing a long-standing challenge that has hindered the country’s development for decades.
