Political Bombshell: 27 State House Members Switch from PDP to APC Today, Monday.

In a significant turn of events, 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have made a collective decision to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This move appears to be linked to the persistent political tension gripping the state.

The emergence of the crisis became evident following the fire incident at the Rivers State Assembly Complex on October 29th. Subsequently, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), accused Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, of being involved in orchestrating the fire at a section of the State House Assembly complex.

Internal division among the Assembly members escalated to the point where some legislators initiated impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara. However, this process was brought to a halt after intervention from President Tinubu.

Enemi George, a member of the Assembly, confirmed this significant development to Channels Television, highlighting that the 27 lawmakers were under the leadership of Martin Amaewhule. The decision to defect to the APC was officially ratified during their sitting on Monday.
