TCN Alarm: Vandals Disrupt Power Supply

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has reported a distressing incident in Abuja, stating that its Gwagwalada-Kukwaba-Apo 132KV Transmission Line 1 suffered a major act of vandalism between Towers 23 and Tower 25.

According to Ndidi Mbah, a spokesperson for TCN, the suspected act of vandalism occurred around 1 am on Sunday, resulting in a sudden disruption of bulk power supply along the line. This compelled TCN’s immediate intervention and investigation.

Following a thorough inquiry, TCN discovered a vandalized section along the line’s route between Tower 23 and Tower 25. The vandals not only caused severe damage but also pilfered conductors, leading to a significant power outage at the Kukwaba Transmission Substation.

In response to this catastrophic event, TCN swiftly restored bulk power supply to the Kukwaba Substation through a temporary solution via the Apo Substation. Mbah assured that TCN is actively engaged in arranging repairs to rectify the damage incurred on the affected line.
