Zamfara Woman Who Assaulted Stepdaughter To Face Prosecution – Commissioner

Zamfara State Government is set to prosecute Aisha Mustapha, the woman suspected of assaulting her 12-year-old stepdaughter in Tsafe local government area (LGA), according to Dr. Nafisa Maradun, the state commissioner for women affairs, children, and social development.

During a visit to the victim in Tsafe on Wednesday, Commissioner Maradun disclosed that Aisha Mustapha is accused of inflicting harm on her stepdaughter by melting nylon on her body and forcing her to drink urine. Maradun affirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring justice in the case, stating, “If found guilty, she faces the full wrath of the law.”

The commissioner emphasized that such abuse would not be tolerated, and once the investigation is concluded, the accused will be taken to court to face justice for the child.

Maradun highlighted the collaboration between the state government and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in pursuing the case to its logical conclusion, ensuring that the accused woman faces punishment if found guilty.

Malama Maryam Muhammad, the biological mother of the victim, appealed to the state government and NGOs operating in the state to thoroughly investigate all alleged atrocities committed by Aisha Mustapha. She expressed gratitude to Commissioner Maradun and NGO officials who have shown concern for her daughter’s situation.
