Breaking: Soldiers destroy bandits’ hideouts in Zamfara, Sokoto

Soldiers under the Joint Task Force, North West Operation Hadarin Jadi, have dealt a significant blow to the operations of terrorists in both Zamfara and Sokoto states. Captain Ibrahim Yahaya, spokesperson for the troops, delivered a press release on Thursday detailing the successful operations against these enclaves of criminal elements. These measures were taken to safeguard the lives and properties of citizens during the festive season.

Highlighting the active combat, Captain Ibrahim Yahaya reported an intense operation on December 14, 2023, within Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The troops encountered marauding terrorists, leveraging their superior force to compel the assailants to retreat with injuries, while one was successfully neutralised. Furthermore, the military forces conducted an aggressive offensive, dismantling the hideouts of notorious terrorist leaders such as Gwaska Dan Karami and Dangote. These leaders, overwhelmed by the military’s might, fled their enclaves in disarray.

In the aftermath of the operations, a thorough sweep yielded significant recoveries. Troops retrieved two firearms, two motorcycles, multiple sets of military camouflage uniforms, communication devices, and a cache of ammunition. Additionally, in a separate operation in Sokoto State, the joint troops neutralised four terrorists in Masasa village. Despite some terrorists managing to evade capture, the military secured one AK-47 rifle, two Tecno phones, and N282,050 in cash.
