The Northern Governors’ Forum (NGF) has taken a significant step in providing support to Kaduna State and the victims affected by the recent bombing in Tudun Biri community by pledging N180 million. This crucial donation was announced following the inaugural meeting of the forum held in Kaduna on Friday.
In expressing heartfelt condolences to the people of Kaduna, the forum strongly condemned the tragic incident that resulted in the loss of over 100 lives and left numerous others injured. In recognition of the immense suffering caused, the NGF has committed itself to offering immediate financial assistance alongside sustained support to those affected by this distressing event.
Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, also the Chairman of the NGF, stated, “The forum has collectively resolved to support the Kaduna State Government and victims of the unfortunate incident of bombing at Tudun Biri Community of Igabi LGA by donating the sum of N180,000,000.00 only to the victims.”
Beyond this humanitarian gesture, the forum has unveiled a comprehensive plan aimed at addressing critical challenges confronting the Northern region. This strategic plan encompasses crucial aspects such as promoting peaceful coexistence, fostering economic development, addressing youth unemployment, combating drug abuse, and revamping the education sector. The overarching goal is to enhance the lives of millions of citizens across the region.
Recognizing the recent efforts of the federal government in tackling insecurity, the NGF pledged increased collaboration. They highlighted the paramount importance of bolstering cooperation with security agencies, reinforcing local law enforcement, engaging with communities, and integrating modern technology to combat the multifaceted issue of regional insecurity.
Furthermore, the forum emphasized the imperative of addressing the root causes of insecurity, such as poverty, unemployment, and the deepening social divide. They also acknowledged the environmental challenges faced in Northern Nigeria, particularly the conflicts between farmers and herders. In response, they committed to crafting sustainable solutions that safeguard livelihoods, promote peaceful coexistence, and contribute to overall regional stability.
