A surge of demonstrators, including students, youths, civil society organizations, labor unions, and the Hausa community, has converged at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, staging a formidable protest in solidarity with Governor Siminilayi Fubara amidst the ongoing political crisis.
The protest gained momentum early in the morning along Azikiwe Road, as participants voiced their opposition to a purported presidential intervention in the state’s affairs. Currently, the assembled protesters persist at the Government House entrance, setting up canopies to amplify their message.
The unrest mirrors a rising tide of dissatisfaction and disagreement regarding President Bola Tinubu’s reported involvement in the crisis. Critics argue that this interference has drawn condemnation, with Rivers elders particularly vocal, contending that the resolution favors Nyesom Wike, the Minister of FCT and former governor of the state.
