Governor Yusuf sets the record straight on SSG Bichi’s sacking

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has addressed the widespread rumor circulating about the alleged sacking of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abdullahi Baffa Bichi. Contrary to social media speculation, Governor Yusuf emphasized that SSG Bichi has not been relieved of his position.

The governor made these statements after the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed Permanent Secretaries. He clarified that SSG Bichi is currently out of the country for medical treatment in Saudi Arabia, and during his absence, the Head of Civil Service, Abdullahi Musa, is acting in his capacity.

The rumor mill suggested a fallout between the governor and SSG Bichi, linking it to the arrest of a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor caught misappropriating food meant for distribution to vulnerable individuals. The SSA was reportedly associated with the SSG, and this led to public speculation.

Governor Yusuf vehemently denied the rumors, stating that there was neither a sack nor any misunderstanding with SSG Bichi. He expressed gratitude for the SSG’s contributions and reassured that his position remains unchanged. The Head of Service holding the position in SSG Bichi’s absence does not equate to a termination of his role, clarified Governor Yusuf.
