Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammad has received the seven children abducted from the State by human traffickers, with a call on parents and community leaders to be vigilant in monitoring their children and wards at all times.
Governor sounded angry at the manner with which parents and guardians are neglecting their roles on parenting,monitoring and supervision and exposing their children and wards to all sort of dangers.
The Governor expressed his displeasure while reprimanding parents of the seven abducted children after their repatriation from Kano state, expressing concern over what he described unscrupulous business by some individuals.
Mohammed commended the Kano state government and security agencies for their prompt response and commitment to rescuing the victims and the arrest of the perpetrators.
Governor Mohammed further called on religious groups, civil society organizations as well as traditional institutions to continue to educate the public on the parental obligation.
He also directed the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development to immediately enroll the children into school and announced the donation of one million naira to each of the seven victims to fund their education and upkeep, emphasising that government will monitor the judicious use of trust funds for the purpose for which it was given for.
It could be recalled that at the twilight of last year, Kano State police command have smashed a syndicate of children trackficcers that resulted in the rescue of the seven children abducted from Bauchi State and other States in the Northern part of the country.
