The Executive Chairman, Zamfara state Universal Basic Education Board, ZSUBEB, Professor Nasir Garba Anka, (Makaman Sokoto ta kudu) has charged the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to justify the confidence reposed in them as students’ representatives.
This was contained in a statement signed and issued to news men in Gusau, the state capital by the public relations officer, Ibrahim Musa Maizare, a copy of which was made available to The Spectacles on Thursday.
Professor Anka according to the statement made the charge while receiving the Association’s executive members on a courtesy call in his office.
He further explained that, as representatives of students studying within and outside the state “You have a herculean task ahead of you and need to remember that you are elected to serve as leaders saddled with responsibilities of protecting their integrity, rights and ensuring their proper wellbeing.
“While discharging your responsibility as leaders of the student body, you shall not forget all your primary responsibilities by concentrating fully on your studies with a view of having excellent results. I was a unionist like you when I was at University and my struggle continues up to this time, so be good ambassadors.” Prof Anka said.
Earlier, the president of the National Association of Nigerian Students, comrade Ibrahim ALIYU said, they were at the Executive Chairman’s office to congratulate him on his new appointment as the Executive chairman Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board and to introduce to him the new leaders of the Association .
Comrade ALIYU said, University was still in need of the services of Prof Anka but described the new appointment as a welcome development in life, saying “we have confidence that your leadership will take the Basic Education in Zamfara and Nigeria in general to a greater height.
According to him, Zamfara State would be proud of him, considering the legacies left behind by the professor at the University,
and prayed for Almighty Allah to continue protecting and guide him throughout his leadership as chairman of ZSUBEB and thanked Governor Dauda Lawal for his foresight in appointing Prof Anka into his administration.
