NANS President Benin Republic Calls For Arrest Of Daily Nigeria Reporter

Ugochukwu Favour, the National Association of Nigerian Students President in Benin Republic, has urged the arrest of reporter Umar Audu, who conducted an undercover investigation revealing corruption in certificate issuance within the country.

In a Thursday interview on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily, Favour criticized the reporter for obtaining certificates and having his passport stamped without being physically present.

“He got his passport stamped when he wasn’t even there. Additionally, this individual served in 2019 and again in 2023,” Favour stated.

Accusing the reporter of implicating the government and undermining agencies like Immigration and the National Youth Service Corps through undercover activities, Favour insisted on the reporter’s arrest.

“He needs to be arrested because, while trying to uncover certain things, he is implicating individuals, including the government, NYSC, and immigration,” Favour emphasized.

When questioned about whether the reporter exposed loopholes that require attention, the NANS president acknowledged the possibility but urged the government to swiftly address the issue.
