JUST IN: Edu’s Bid to Pay Millions into Private Account was Blocked – Accountant-General

In a startling revelation, it has been uncovered that Betta Edu, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, sought to disburse N585 million from a poverty alleviation fund to a private individual. The rejected request, revealed in a leaked memo, outlined the transfer of funds to Oniyelu Bridget Mojisola, designated as the “project accountant” for a grant program.

However, the Accountant-General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein, firmly rejected the bid, asserting that her office does not make payments for projects implemented by ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs). Madein emphasized that no bulk money should be made to an individual’s account in the name of a Project Accountant.

While the Ministry received the request, the payment was not executed, and Madein advised on the appropriate steps to follow in making such payments in adherence to established procedures. Madein stressed the importance of paying project beneficiaries through verified bank accounts, reaffirming her commitment to accountability and transparency in managing public funds.
