Tinubu Urged to Root Out Holders Of Fake University Degrees in Leadership Roles

Calls have been made for the Federal government to take decisive action in identifying individuals holding key managerial positions with fraudulent university degrees and other certificates.

Alhaji Musa Saidu, President of the International Human Rights Commission for Ecology and Marine Affairs in Africa, made this plea during an interview with Vanguard. He emphasized that the recent scandal involving fake certificates from a university in Benin Republic highlights the prevalence of individuals with counterfeit degrees in prominent government roles.

Saidu urged the government to initiate a comprehensive investigation into the academic credentials of officials in high-ranking positions, particularly those claiming degrees from foreign universities. He proposed a public audit of certificates to ensure that only qualified and competent individuals assume crucial roles within the government. Saidu argued that some current officeholders lack the requisite qualifications, contributing to the nation’s stagnation.

The President of the International Human Rights Commission stressed the need for transparency in exposing those with fake degrees, citing the recent revelation as a positive step towards combating corruption.
