JUST IN: Supreme Court Sets Final Judgment Day for Kano and Lagos Governorship Cases

In a recent development, the Supreme Court is poised to deliver judgments in post-election governorship appeals, including pivotal cases involving Kano, Lagos, and other states. The court has scheduled hearings for 21 appeals related to disputes arising from the last governorship election, with cases pertaining to Ebonyi, Plateau, Delta, Adamawa, Abia, Ogun, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom states to be heard between Monday and Thursday. The anticipated judgments are expected to be delivered on Friday.

The court’s schedule reveals a packed week, starting with hearings on Monday featuring appeals by the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), two by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Chukwuma Odii Ifeanyi, as well as two appeals by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate in Benue state. Tuesday will see six appeals, three for Plateau State and three for Delta State, involving various parties such as the PDP, APC, SDP, and Labour Party.

Wednesday’s proceedings include four appeals, two concerning Adamawa State and two related to Abia State. Thursday’s docket features six appeals, encompassing cases from Ogun, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom states. Notably, the court plans to render judgments on Friday for post-election governorship appeals that have already been heard, encompassing crucial cases from Lagos, Kano, and several other states.
