President Bola Tinubu took decisive action on Monday, suspending the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Betta Edu, amidst widespread public outcry over an alleged ₦585 million scandal.

A statement released by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Ajuri Ngelale, emphasized Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability in the administration of Nigeria’s resources.

“In line with his commitment to ensuring the utmost integrity in public service, President Bola Tinubu has suspended Dr. Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, from office with immediate effect.”

The move came after Tinubu, on Sunday, ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the reported ₦585 million scandal within the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
