Former Benue governor, Samuel Ortom, announced today that the G5 faction within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will endorse President Bola Tinubu’s candidacy for the 2027 elections. The G-5, comprising Ortom, Wike, Ugwuanyi, Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Seyi Makinde (Oyo), all completed their second term as governors last May, with Makinde currently in his second term.
Ortom made this declaration during a luncheon hosted by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, in Rivers on Sunday, January 7. He emphasized that the G5 harbors no regrets for supporting Tinubu’s previous electoral victory and affirmed their commitment to backing the former Lagos governor for a second term as Nigeria’s president in 2027.
Assuring Nigerians, Ortom expressed confidence that Tinubu would address key challenges such as security and the economy. He stated, “If we work to ensure Bola Ahmed succeeds, there will be tomorrow for anybody to even contest the election at all. Our leader, Nyesom Wike, has already made a declaration that in 2027, we are supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
