JUST IN: Several security operatives dead after fatal ambush by bandits in Zamfara state

A tragic incident unfolded as a Joint Task Force, comprised of personnel from the Police Mobile Force and Soldiers, was ambushed by bandits in Zamfara State. The fatal attack occurred on January 6, 2023, between Danjigba and Kunci Kargo locations of Sector 7 within Operation Hadarin Daji.

In a surprise assault, the bandits targeted a gun truck, resulting in the loss of multiple lives among the security operatives. Inspector Wilson Paul Mine and a PMF personnel from PMF 42, identified among the victims, lost their lives along with their rifles during the attack. Additionally, four soldiers tragically fell victim to the ambush.

Inspector Ewa Onono sustained injuries as a backup vehicle overturned, causing fractures to his leg and arm, though his rifle remained secure. The wounded were promptly transported to Gusau Teaching Hospital for urgent medical attention.

The assailants seized rifles and an AA Rifle during the ambush. As of the latest update, details regarding the positioning of the deceased operatives’ bodies are undisclosed, marking a somber day for the security forces in Zamfara State.
