Jigawa Governor Attends Student Endowment Funds Launching

From Abdullahi Idris, Dutse

Governor Mallam Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has attended the maiden launching of student endowment funds by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Student Affairs at the Manpower Development Institute (MDI) Hall, Dutse.

The launching was organised in line with the provision of financial assistance of N50,000 to 150 Jigawa State indigene students studying for master’s degrees and those at the Nigerian Law School for their Bar Exams.

Speaking during the launching, Governor Umar Namadi said the state government had already paid a total of N24 million as support for the Law students who were at the Nigerian Law School apart from N100,000 for each student as logistics and the N50,000 token. He reiterated that the education sector was part of his 12-point campaign agenda and as such his administration rated it among its priorities.

He said: “This is to ensure that no student who has finished his or her LL.B is unable to go to Law School and ensure that all our students who have finished university get the opportunity financially . . . And those pursuing their master’s and Ph.Ds, these were people who were left out, but I want to assure you that this administration is ready to provide for our students who want to go for their post-graduate studies.”

On his part, the SSA Student Affairs, Muhammad Salisu (Seeker), commended the governor for making the educational sector such a priority as to devote to it 32% of the 2024 Budget for a Greater Jigawa.

Gracing the occasion with their presence were the Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin; Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Aondona Hyacinth, who had been in the state on a visit; Commissioner of Health, Dr Muhammad Abdullahi Kainuwa; Commissioner of Works, Engr.
