Stakeholders Poise To Reactivate Bauchi Association Of Islamiyya Schools

Bauchi state former Grand Khadi, Abdullahi Yakubu Marafa has said that Islamiyya schools were established to train children on religious basis with certain English subjects for them to become candidates for admission into higher institutions of learning.

Alh. Abdullahi Yakubu Karafa explained that the kind of teachers being recruited into the Islamiyya schools is an attestation of meeting the desired objective in the educational pursuit of those institutions.

Marafa, at the official inauguration of the standing committee of the Association of Model Islamiyya Schools (AMIS) held in FOMWAN Secretariat Bauchi yesterday, expressed confidence that with the effective and efficient patronage of the stakeholders, the schools would meet their expected goals.

He told the committees inaugurated to revive the activities of the association at the meeting that has the agenda of developing the activities of Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) especially on educational pursuit, that FOMWAN is a national body contributing to the educational development of the country.

Yakubu Marafa also charged members of standing committees to discharge their primary assignment effectively with a view to revitalize the Islamic Education System in Bauchi State.

Speaking earlier, that AMIS chairman, Alh. Ahmed Mohammed said that the essence of the meeting is for the stakeholders to decide ways and means of uplifting the activities of the association for optimal performance.

The association chairman disclosed that he was mandated by the stakeholders to appoint committees which, he believes, with the efforts, cooperation and support of the stakeholders would revive activities of the association for better performance.

Alh. Ahmed Mohammed face the new committees as patron committee under the distinguished former Grand Khadi, Abdullahi Yakubu Marafa; Advisory Committee under the chairmanship of Malam Nuruddeen Abdullahi; Sensitization Committee to be chaired by Malam Sa’idu Hassan; and Revenue Generation Committee under the leadership of Malam Zakaria Hassan Galadima.

Mohammed, who said that the committees are to go round the 20 LGAs of the state to collect inputs, explained that the aim of establishing the association is to unite the Muslims Ummah so as to speak with one voice, especially at the Federal Ministry of Education level for their core subjects to be respected in the country.

He observed that the recently Federal Ministry of Education recognized the Association of Model Islamic Schools as one of its members with a view to strengthen the model education system.

Ahmad Muhammad also called on the Head teacher’s and other proprietors of Model Islamic Schools across the state to support and give more attention to the association for effective teaching and learning.
