In a significant development, the Supreme Court has unequivocally dismissed the appeal lodged by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Sa’idu Umar, challenging the election victory of Governor Ahmad Aliyu in Sokoto State. A unanimous decision was reached by the five-member panel of the court, declaring the appellant’s case as lacking in merit.
Justice Tijjani Abubakar, delivering the lead judgment on Thursday, emphasized that the appellants failed to substantiate their allegations of non-compliance. The court proceeded to uphold the earlier verdict of the Court of Appeal, which had affirmed Governor Aliyu’s election.
