In a decisive ruling today, the Supreme Court has rejected the appeal lodged by Muhammad Sani Yahaya of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) challenging the election of Taraba Governor Agbu Kefas.
The five-member panel of the court, delivering a unanimous judgment on Thursday, asserted that the NNPP and its candidate failed to substantiate their claim that Kefas did not secure the majority of valid votes.
Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba, delivering the lead judgment, emphasized that the Court of Appeal was justified in promptly dismissing the appeal due to incomplete records of appeal.
Justice Lawal upheld the verdict of the Court of Appeal, confirming Kefas’ election.
