The police have apprehended Bello Muhammad, a 28-year-old suspected bandit, at Easyway Hotel in Tafa town, Kaduna.
The suspect, hailing from Zamfara State, was found in possession of N2,350,000 believed to be ransom proceeds from kidnappings in the Kagarko forest area.
Bello Muhammad confessed to being involved in kidnapping, and photos on his phone depicted him brandishing an AK47 rifle in a forest.
In an attempt to obstruct the investigation, the suspect tried to bribe the Divisional Police Officer with one million naira, but the officer steadfastly rejected the bribe.
The Commissioner of Police, CP A.D Ali, commended the operatives from Tafa Division and urged the sustained efforts to curb crime in the state.
The CP also advised hoteliers and leisure service operators to scrutinize the identities of their customers to prevent providing a safe haven for criminals.
