Troops Of Operation Hadarin Daji Raids Bandit Enclaves In Zamfara

Military raids on bandits’ enclaves in Zamfara have yielded success, with troops from Operation Hadarin Daji neutralizing numerous bandits and clearing hideouts. Brigadier General Sani Ahmed, the Commanding Officer of 1 Brigade, Nigeria Army, Gusau, revealed this during the West African Social Activities, WASA, held on the garrison grounds in Gusau.

Brig. Gen. Ahmed highlighted the effective collaboration between the military and other security operatives, preventing bandits from infiltrating the state. Represented by Colonel J. Umaru, he emphasized that Operation Hadarin Daji, in synergy with sister agencies, conducted significant operations in bandit enclaves such as Sunke, Gando, Munhaye, and Kuyanbana forests.

The troops have also targeted other forests and locations within 1 Brigade’s responsibility, resulting in successful raids that curtailed the bandits’ nefarious activities in the region.

1 Brigade played a pivotal role in recruiting and training over 4,000 Community Protection Guard personnel (CPG), initiated by the state government. These personnel are now combat-ready to support troops and other security agencies in the fight against banditry. Additionally, the brigade engaged in civil-military cooperation activities, including free medical outreach in Zamfara communities, the distribution of medical items, and the rehabilitation of accident and emergency wards in some general hospitals in Gusau.

Brig. Gen. Ahmed outlined plans for more robust fighting strategies to make Zamfara and the entire nation crime-free by April 2024. He noted the neutralization of several bandits, destruction of their enclaves, and the recovery of firearms as tangible outcomes of ongoing military operations.
