Aliko Dangote University Initiates Skill Acquisition Training

Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, located in Wudil, Kano State, has incorporated skills acquisition programs as part of its strategy to empower students towards self-reliance.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Musa Yakasai, shared this information with the press in Wudil on Wednesday, highlighting that students are now undergoing training in various artisanal skills such as tailoring, hairdressing, soap making, and welding.

The objective of this initiative is to furnish students with diverse entrepreneurial skills alongside their regular academic pursuits. The Vice Chancellor emphasized that this program will bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge from textbooks and practical applications, providing students with valuable insights into real-life scenarios, opportunities for personal advancement, and preparation for future careers.

Additionally, the university’s management has introduced on-campus menial job opportunities to support students in meeting their financial needs. Furthermore, plans are underway to utilize 17 acres of land for irrigation and mechanized farming, contributing to the university’s revenue generation efforts.

To further diversify revenue streams, the university has established a consultancy services unit that will offer services to the public, generating additional income for the institution.
