NANS Issues 14-Day For Swift Action On Soaring Living Costs Or Face Mass Protests

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to President Bola Tinubu, demanding tangible steps to address the escalating cost of living crisis in the country.

During a media briefing in Osogbo, NANS Southwest Zone D expressed deep concern over the hardships faced by Nigerians, citing economic challenges such as inflation, unemployment, and a weakening currency. The association emphasized the severe impact on average citizens, making it increasingly difficult to afford basic necessities.

NANS highlighted the urgent need for political leaders to prioritize the welfare of the masses, urging President Tinubu to intervene and implement concrete measures. Failure to do so within the stipulated 14 days would lead to mass protests, with NANS Southwest Zone D mobilizing students and citizens to take to the streets.

While issuing the ultimatum, NANS appealed to relevant stakeholders, including government officials, policymakers, and civil society organizations, to collaborate in addressing the pressing needs of the Nigerian people. The association emphasized the necessity for swift and decisive action to mitigate the impact of the cost of living crisis.
