Strike : ASUU Launches Nationwide Consultation over Government Agreement Failures, Shock Nation

In a move that has sent shockwaves across the nation, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has initiated a nationwide consultation in response to the failure of the government to implement certain agreements. ASUU President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, made the announcement during the commencement of the consultation at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State.

Professor Osodeke lamented the government’s lack of adherence to agreements reached with the organized labor, particularly ASUU, since the inauguration of the administration of President Bola Tinubu in May 2023. The nationwide consultation, involving members from different branches, aims to determine the union’s next course of action in addressing these longstanding grievances.

Expressing regret over the dire situation, Professor Osodeke highlighted the significant impact of the government’s failure to fulfill its promises on ASUU members and their families. Despite previous agreements, no payment has been made to ASUU members, leading to undue hardships.
