PDP Accuses Tinubu, APC Of Politicizing Economic Hardship Amids Protests

Amid mounting protests across Nigeria over economic hardship and worsening insecurity, the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has accused President Bola Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) of politicizing the grievances of the populace.

In Minna, the capital of Niger State, youths and women took to the streets to voice their frustration with the severe economic challenges and skyrocketing cost of living. However, the APC, through its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, alleged that opposition forces orchestrated the demonstrations as part of a calculated effort to destabilize the government.

Responding to the APC’s accusations, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, condemned the ruling party’s stance as callous and out of touch with the reality faced by ordinary Nigerians.

Ologunagba criticized the APC’s response, arguing that rather than addressing the legitimate concerns of the people, the ruling party was resorting to intimidation and threats. He emphasized that Nigerians were exercising their democratic right to protest against the mismanagement of the economy and the prevailing hardships.

The PDP spokesperson lambasted the APC for its failure to tackle the root causes of the economic downturn, including policies that have exacerbated poverty and led to widespread unemployment. He highlighted the sharp decline in living standards under the Tinubu administration and accused the government of prioritizing personal interests over the welfare of the citizens.

Moreover, Ologunagba pointed to the government’s inadequate response to escalating security challenges, noting that President Tinubu’s absence from the country during a time of crisis only added insult to injury.

In conclusion, the PDP urged the APC to acknowledge the gravity of the situation and take concrete steps to address the concerns of Nigerians, rather than resorting to scapegoating and repression.
