Lagos Joins Nationwide Movement Against Soaring Cost of Living

The outcry against the escalating cost of living has reached Lagos, with residents adding their voices to the growing chorus of discontent across the nation.

In the bustling Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State, market vendors and young demonstrators took to the streets on Saturday to protest the prevailing economic conditions.

Brandishing placards emblazoned with messages such as “Baba Tinubu, Nigerians are suffering” and “Tinubu, hear our cry,” the protestors expressed their frustration with the current state of affairs.

This demonstration is the latest in a string of protests that have erupted in various states, including Kogi, Osun, Niger, and Kano, all decrying the relentless rise in the cost of living.

Since the removal of petrol subsidies in May 2023, prices of essential goods and services have soared, exacerbating the financial strain on ordinary citizens.
