Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has honored the exceptional achievements of 50 graduates from the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) by offering them a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth. Each of these outstanding graduates has been awarded ₦500,000 as seed capital to kickstart their entrepreneurial endeavors, alongside a month-long skills acquisition program at the Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technical Institute in Lafia.
The announcement of these rewards came during Governor Sule’s address at the joint convocation ceremony celebrating the achievements of FULafia’s 6th, 7th, and 8th graduating classes.
Highlighting the importance of practical skills alongside academic excellence, Governor Sule outlined a diverse range of training options, including electrical installation, welding and fabrication, air conditioning and refrigeration, and carpentry, available to the graduating students at the vocational and technical institute.
Encouraging the graduates to leverage their education for personal and national development, Governor Sule emphasized the invaluable role of quality education in overcoming the nation’s challenges and securing its future.
Echoing this sentiment, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, serving as the Visitor to the Federal University of Lafia, reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the educational sector’s quality and accessibility. He pledged increased resources to address infrastructure deficits and improve educational outcomes, recognizing universities’ vital contribution to national development.
Represented by Ambassador Christopher Jibrin Maiyaki, the Acting Executive Secretary of the National University Commission (NUC), President Tinubu affirmed the government’s willingness to support universities in their pursuit of excellence, acknowledging the need for alternative revenue sources to complement public funding.
