NSA Collaborates With State Governors To Combat Insecurity, Food Crisis

In a concerted effort to address the dual challenges of insecurity and a persistent food crisis, governors and the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, have come together to devise strategies for resolution.

During a virtual meeting, Ribadu briefed the governors on the Federal Government’s initiatives to combat the security challenges, emphasizing the need for collaboration between the states and the federal government.

The session highlighted the importance of establishing state police, particularly in light of the escalating security threats, as emphasized by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors.

Despite ongoing efforts by security agencies, Nigeria continues to grapple with terrorism, banditry, kidnappings, and killings, underscoring the urgency of collective action.

Furthermore, rising food costs have led to protests in several states, prompting calls for intervention from President Bola Tinubu.

The meeting also addressed plans for police reform, with discussions revolving around enhancing the nation’s internal security capabilities through the restructuring of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

In addition to security concerns, the governors deliberated on strategies to mitigate the food crisis, recognizing its interconnectedness with broader security issues.

The online session served as a platform for sharing insights into the security landscape of each state, identifying areas of improvement, and outlining actionable steps for governors to take.

Overall, the collaborative efforts aim to bolster the nation’s security architecture and alleviate the pressing challenges of insecurity and food scarcity.
