Abuja kidnapping: FCT minister Wike offers N20m reward on wanted, suspects

The Federal Capital Territory Administration Minister, Nyesom Wike, has announced a N20 million bounty on two wanted kidnappers, Dahiru Adamu and Abu Ibrahim, accused of terrorizing Abuja. Wike declared that they should be apprehended dead or alive during a visit to the FCT Police Command, where 15 suspected kidnappers and one chance armed robbers were recently arrested. His decision was prompted by the Police Commissioner’s revelation that two criminals were still at large, and he pledged the reward to encourage their capture.

Expressing satisfaction over the apprehension of the suspects, Wike commended the commissioner and his team for their diligent work, emphasizing the significance of effective law enforcement. He promised to provide the police with necessary equipment to combat crime in the territory, asserting that under President Bola Tinubu’s support, they were fully prepared to confront criminals. Wike stressed the importance of intelligence gathering, urging both residents and law enforcement to intensify efforts in this regard.

The Commissioner of Police in the FCT, Mr. Benneth Igweh, reported that 23 suspects were arrested in the past two days. Among them were eight suspected armed robbers apprehended by the Mabushi Division, who confessed to engaging in “one chance” activities using toy guns and knives. Additionally, seven suspected kidnappers were arrested in Pyankasa, Tudun Wada, and Ketti villages for various abduction cases, including the kidnapping of a district head, residents of Kabusa Estate, and staff at Defence Estate Kabusa. The police seized N9 million cash, six AK 47 rifles, bulletproof vests, and locally fabricated walkie talkies from the suspects, who will all face legal prosecution.
