FG Slams PDP Govs For Comparing Nigeria’s Economic Woes To Venezuela

In response to recent remarks by Governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Federal Government has criticized their comparison of Nigeria’s economic challenges to that of Venezuela. The Information Minister, Mohammed Idris, accused the PDP governors of misleading the public and playing political games rather than focusing on addressing the nation’s issues.

The PDP governors, led by Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, had expressed concerns about the rising cost of living and drew parallels to Venezuela’s situation during a press conference in Abuja.

Minister Idris emphasized that while Nigeria faces its share of difficulties, the situation is incomparable to Venezuela’s. He highlighted the government’s efforts to stabilize the economy, projecting a 3% GDP growth and ensuring financial obligations are met both domestically and internationally.

Furthermore, the minister pointed out the significant increase in revenue under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, with all levels of government benefiting from reforms aimed at economic revitalization. He urged Nigerians to question the PDP governors on their utilization of these enhanced resources to improve citizens’ lives.
