In a significant move aimed at enhancing efficiency and optimizing resources, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) is contemplating the transfer of select departments from Abuja to Lagos.
The decision, outlined in an internal memo dated February 14, 2024, aims to streamline operations, reduce costs, and leverage existing infrastructure in Lagos. The memo, obtained by The Spectacles, highlights the Commission’s commitment to improving service delivery and maximizing asset utilization.
“As part of our strategic objectives to boost organizational efficiency and facilitate industry growth, we are exploring the possibility of relocating specific units to Lagos,” the memo states.
Departments are instructed to identify units capable of autonomous operation with minimal oversight. Submissions are requested by the close of business on Friday, February 23, 2024, as the Commission moves forward with its plans.
The memo, signed by Dr. Kelechi Onyekachi Ofoegbu on behalf of the Commission, underscores the proactive measures being taken to drive performance and adapt to evolving needs.
